Hello, welcome to the site. I’ve been quite busy recently but am now ready to start my third and final year at Leeds City College. The course has been perfect for me and I have really enjoyed having the equipment and knowledge to explore all avenues within photography.
Last term was great for me because not only was I awarded ‘Student of the year’, but I was also fortunate to have two sets of work exhibited for our second year final show. I curated our year’s exhibition, that was a showcase of 25 student’s work. I really enjoyed working with everyone’s photographs and found it a challenge as there was so much variety.
The Defined-Obscurity exhibition was at The Leeds Gallery, Munroe House, Leeds. http://www.leedsgallery.com/
Initially, I worked with my Tutor Tom Poultney http://tompoultney.com/ deciding where all the work would go, and drew up a floor plan and allocated spaces. I had help from lots of students hanging the exhibition and it took all day.
I found the whole process a test to work on, but fortunately had no problem deciding how the work sat together. It was a test of nerves with the other students though, it was obvious which ones had little preparation. It was a great day and we got everyones work sorted in time.
‘A Life without’
I also exhibited work at DLG architects, as part of a working brief whilst at college. Aimed at representing the people, rather than the buildings I wanted to capture something fun and unique. I was part of four students who were picked, all of us had different approaches to the brief.
So what’s next? I’ve gotta exhibit my own work in a suitable location in Leeds, and I’m still undecided as to what the subject matter is! I’m sure it will come though
